John graduated from the University of Columbus in Georgia with a BBA in Computer Information Systems. After completing two years of college, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as an infantryman. Later, he completed his degree while serving as an active-duty Soldier. John's military journey began as a Private First Class (E3), advancing to Sergeant First Class (E7). After that, he attended Officer Candidate School and became a commissioned officer, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel (O5) after 29 years of service. During his career, John had the privilege and honor of serving alongside some of America's finest service members in locations like Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea, Germany, Texas, Kansas, Georgia, and Hawaii. He was fortunate to have his family with him at most of his duty assignments, and they made Hawaii their final home after his last duty station there. John has been blessed with a beautiful wife of 34 years and three incredible children, as well as two grandchildren. All three of his children served in the military, and one is currently serving as a Physical Therapist in the Army. As for the grandchildren, John holds a hope that they might one day become professional golfers.
Post-military, John transitioned into a new role as a Mortgage Loan Officer, a position where he felt compelled to continue assisting veterans, their families, and the wider community in achieving homeownership and financial education. After spending 7 years as a retail mortgage lender, John transitioned to work as a mortgage broker. While he continues to specialize in VA loans, John believes that a mortgage broker can offer a broader range of lending and pricing options for all buyers.
